THE TOON HIT THE ROAD

06/10/2022

Starting off his UK tour in Leeds early this month, Newcastle born and bred Andrew Cushin will take on Belfast City Centre bar Voodoo on the 18th of October with the supporting acts of Belfasts' own The Continentals and Baroda. His record label Strap Originals is owned by Libertines frontman Pete Doherty and they have worked with Andrew and have released his most recent EP You Don't Belong with the record label stating that Cushin "possesses a nuanced, multifaceted talent for songwriting." From a working class background, the self-proclaimed 'council estate kid' who writes about issues that affect him, his friends and his family. Andrews evident breathtaking talent and passion for music has gained numerous admirers, most notably Noel Gallagher, britpop and Oasis legend who produced and performed on Andrew's 2020 single Where's My Family Gone.

Andrews ongoing journey continues with his 8th release You Don't Belong EP. I really enjoy the feeling of You Don't Belong. It adds a new dimension and an intensity to the Geordie stars music, complete with synth and powerful drumming from the band's drummer Louis Potts. Don't assume this is a gentler, subdued version of Andrews music because the lyrics are still as profound and as honest as we've come to expect.

With his music being inspired by the likes of Donovan, Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Paul Weller and also having supported The Lathums, Two Door Cinema Club and The Libertines in the past, his presence on the stage is not to be under estimated and is a must see for any indie/rock fans.
